Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to intentionally train future equine professionals — developing skilled, compassionate leaders who can strengthen existing barns, launch new educational programs, and preserve affordable horsemanship opportunities for future generations. By investing in these students, donors are not simply supporting a program; they are helping rebuild an industry, preserve life-changing opportunities for youth, and ensure that horses continue to positively impact communities for years to come.
Why Was King’s Gift Started?
How Did We Get Here?
For years, we have watched the equestrian industry slowly unravel. Children are being taught how to ride and compete, but not how to truly care for horses, manage barns, or lead within the industry. Top trainers across the country are voicing the same concern: the next generation lacks the practical horsemanship and leadership skills needed to sustain quality equine programs. At the same time, lesson barns are closing at alarming rates as rising costs and a widening gap between elite competition programs and everyday families make quality horse education increasingly inaccessible.
Meanwhile, the young people in our own community are struggling as well — facing rising anxiety, low confidence, limited independence, and a lack of meaningful mentorship and responsibility.
Through our proof of concept program, King’s View Acres, we proved that affordable, relationship-based horsemanship education can transform lives. Students gained confidence, leadership skills, work ethic, communication abilities, and a deep understanding of horses that extended far beyond the saddle. The impact reached not only our students, but also the future of the horse industry itself.
However, one critical problem remained: there are not enough trained instructors, barn managers, and equine professionals prepared to carry these programs forward. Like many lesson barns across the country, sustainability became impossible without qualified staff to lead the next generation.
That is why we created this internship program.
How Can You Help?
We Need YOU!
King’s Gift Fund is a start-up organization. Our first class of 9 interns completed their training in May of 2026. Our second class is set to begin on June 1, 2026. We currently have 22 interns registered for that program. Because we are growing so rapidly, our needs are great. Your monetary or time donations are necessary for our program to continue.
